Grant Hanley signs for Newcastle United
Newcastle United have completed the signing of defender Grant Hanley from Blackburn Rovers on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The Scotland international becomes the Magpies' second signing of the summer following the arrival of Matz Sels from Gent.
Hanley, 25, has been a key player for Blackburn in recent seasons, making over 150 appearances for the club. He helped them win promotion to the Premier League in 2017 but was unable to prevent their relegation back to the Championship last season.
The defender is a versatile player who can play at centre-back or left-back. He is also a good passer of the ball and has a strong aerial presence.
Hanley is a welcome addition to the Newcastle squad and is expected to play a key role in their bid to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
